When will the building be ready for occupancy?
The building is currently under construction and some units are expected to be ready for move-in September 2023
What will the building look like?
The Housing project will consist of 20 units in 2 separate buildings with a mixture of 1 and 2 bedrooms. The lay-out will resemble a single story “Town-House style” all on one floor level, with parking in front of your unit and walk through to your patio in the rear. Floor plans will be available in the short future on our website or can be mailed upon request.
What are the proposed rents, additional fees, and sizes for units?
Due to the configuration and design constraints associated with the original
building lay-out, the suite sizes, in terms of square footage will differ slightly

How do we rent a unit?
Persons interested in renting a unit can have their name placed on a list of
interested parties by calling property management at (705)472-8749, or emailing info@bonfieldseniorshousing.ca someone will contact you to help answer questions and review the application process.

What are the floor plans?
The latest plans are available for viewing online on the at the Bonfield Housing
website at bonfieldseniorshousing.ca Minor changes could still be made throughout the construction process
Will the building be for seniors or persons of all ages?
At this stage, the building will be for persons of age 55 and older, subject to final occupancy requirement.
Will the building be rented to just people from Bonfield?
It is the committee’s hope that current and former Bonfield residents will have the first opportunity to rent available units, however, vacant units will be made available to all seniors from the region. The property manager will be processing new rental
applications.
Is there parking included with the rent?
Parking is onsite and will be limited to 1 vehicle per unit. A small fee will apply to each parking space for those who require parking. A second parking space can be made available on first come first served basis. Visitors parking area will also be made available.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets are allowed in the building.
However, there may be certain restrictions that apply based on the type and size of the pet. Owners Of pets which disturb the quiet enjoyment of other tenants (e.g., repeated dog barking), or that do not abide by the “stoop and scoop” policy could be subject to eviction.
Will the building have accessibility features to accommodate disabled persons?
The building is designed to meet current, Provincial Accessibility Standards. The facility will have enhanced features for seniors including walk-in style showers in all units, wider corridors, wider door widths, and comfort height toilets/fixtures will be standard. Certain units will have enhanced accessibility features for persons in a wheelchair including roll-in style showers, wall hung bathroom sinks for wheelchair access and grab bars throughout the washrooms.
Is there a community meeting room?
Yes, there is a common room for tenants to gather for coffee and small functions.
Is smoking allowed?
The building is designated as “Non-Smoking” but there will be assigned areas outside the building for tenants to use for smoking.
What utilities are included in the rent?
All utilities will be extra including hydro, TV, telephone, and internet. It will be the responsibility of the tenant to obtain and pay for these directly.
Is there air conditioning? Will it be extra for hydro if there is air conditioning?
Units will be primarily heated and cooled with a centrally located energy efficient ductless heat pump system with auxiliary baseboard heat.
Will there be internet? If not, can I drill the access holes anywhere?
Internet will be up to the tenants to obtain service from local providers. Units will have convenient pre-wired locations where available.
Will there be satellite TV? If not, can I place a satellite dish on the roof?
Tenants can install an individual dish for their unit, these must be kept to the rear of the building only and not visible from the front. Management is working with various providers to possibly offer other service options to the tenants.
Is there access to the outdoors from my unit?
In addition to the front ground level entrance, each unit will have access to the
outdoors by way of rear patio door opening onto a small patio area.
Is there a convenience store in the building?
There is no store located onsite.
Who will oversee the maintenance of the building?
A dedicated property manager will oversee building operation and maintenance. Persons interested in being an onsite liaison can make a note on tenant application form to the property manager and compensation can be arranged.
Is there a coffee machine in the common room?
The common room will have a single serve coffee machine and a fridge to be used according to building policy. It will be up to tenants/guests to provide their own supplies.
Can my adult children move in with me if they are between places?
Persons not specifically listed on the rental application will not be permitted to stay and live in the unit for any period. All persons and short-term temporary guests wishing to reside in any unit for more then 1 night will be required to go through the rental application process and will be subject to building guidelines.
Can I consume alcohol or cannabis on the property?
Tenants must conduct themselves in compliance with all relevant legislation and bylaws including building specific rules and regulations regarding smoking, drugs, and alcohol consumption. Smoking of any substances is not permitted inside the building including the units. Intoxicated behavior will not be permitted in any of the common areas. Illegal activity of any kind are grounds for eviction.
Is there a noise limit?
Tenants will have to comply with local bylaws and those found to create repeat noise disturbances that disrupt the quiet enjoyment of other tenants may be subject to eviction.
Where does the garbage go?
A designated garbage and recycling area will be provided. All garbage must be properly bagged, and recycling of cardboard must be broken down. Electronics recycling will not be provided and there will NOT be any onsite disposal for large items such as mattresses or furniture, tenants will have to pay for and arrange to dispose larger items themselves.
Will there be laundry?
Each unit will have a laundry closet and hookups for a stacked apartment sized washer/dryer. Tenants will be responsible to supply their own washer/dryer.
Will there be appliances?
No, each unit will be responsible to supply their own appliances (fridge/stove). Space will be provided in the cabinetry for a standard size (30 inch wide) fridge and stove.
